The inaugural Fore Pink Mixed Classic Golf Tournament to support the Kelly
Shires Breast Cancer Foundation took place on October 1st, 2009. We are
Delighted to report that $7,500 was raised in our first year.
The Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation began as a grass roots organization
in 2000 with the goal of helping those stricken with breast cancer in ways
that went above and beyond traditional sources of medical and community
support. What began as a local, all-women snowmobiling event has evolved
into a national foundation, that continues to support both women and men in
their day-to-day challenges in fighting their cancer.
Kelly lost her battle with breast cancer in 2004 but in her 8 year journey and
through the foundation that carries her name, she has left an inspiring legacy
of hope and practical caring. Today funds raised for the foundation through
events such as the inaugural Fore Pink Mixed Classic Golf Tournament go
directly to families across Canada.
